Melissa Wragge, Founder and Principal

Melissa is a specialist in regenerative business transformation, a systems design strategist and biomimicry innovation practitioner. She is a niche specialist in Nature’s disruptive design thinking.

She brings Nature’s intelligence to the design thinking table, playing in the intersection of biomimicry, ecology, ethics and systems.

25+ years leading strategic business transformation and innovation. 15 years on the regenerative side. 10 years training exec teams and entrepreneurs on disruption, for good.  4 years deep diving into research, curating 100 years of regenerative disruptive principles of living systems, alongside a U.S. MSc in Biomimicry.

Her bio.t METHOD is the culmination of her work as a practitioner.

A graduate of Auckland University with a BABCom in Marketing, Economics, Spanish and Art History, Melissa also teaches Masters students in applied innovation at Academy Ex, is a business coach at The Icehouse, an alumni of NZTE’s Better By Design program and an advisory board member on a few NZ regenerative businesses. She also guest lectures at Auckland University for MBA students in circular design and market ecosystem shaping. Melissa is also an accredited NZ Regional Business Partner Network service provider.

Cherie Tirikatene, Ngāi Tahu, Advisor

Cherie is CEO of SEED NZ, and principal advisor for Tāmata Hauhā on their Rēkohu, Wharekauri (Chatham Islands).

Previously COO for Ekos (where she met Melissa), focused on sustainable reforestation and carbon farming, CEO of BIZview, and involved in the Māori Media Sector Shift.

She is a passionate advocate for hapū, whānau and marae-based development. She leads and advises on multiple projects that advance environmentally sustainable economic growth alongside supporting the global connection of indigenous communities for social and economic outcomes.

Cherie’s kaupapa is widely supported, in her efforts to ensure that everyone in Aotearoa and Wharekauri has access to the resources they need to grow, help future generations, and regenerate our land. Cherie is also a mean farmer, hunter and mother and beloved by her dogs Ruby and Kaha.

SEED is a participatory community development programme that helps communities create value from their land, culture and people to improve their own quality of life. SEED works primarily with indigenous first-nations people and communities. Tāmata Hauhā provides funding and ongoing management for carbon farming. They work in genuine partnership with landowners for long-term benefits, whilst striving to create optimal biodiversity outcomes.

    10% of the sale price of all bio.t METHOD offerings, goes to impact litigation funds that fight to protect native endemic living systems and species.

  • We offer scholarships for Māori, Pacific peoples, and all those who identify as indigenous First Nation peoples.

    We also offer discounts for those who are over 60 or under 20 years of age, students, those between jobs or otherwise not employed, non-profit regenerative players and pre-revenue start-ups

  • 10% of Tensegrity staff time is gifted to upskilling staff in Biomimicry.

    10% of staff time is gifted to regenerative social or ecological activism work of their choice.

  • 10% equity in Tensegrity Ltd has been set aside to be gifted to an environmental activist partner protecting the legal personhood of endemic species.

    As a start up business ourselves, we have yet to establish this partnership, but are committing to this as part of our ethos and manifesto.
